Connectors: your agents use your apps

Connect an app once in Switchboard, then choose which of your agents can use it.

A connector lets your agents use an app, such as Slack or Google Workspace, for you. Connect the app once in Switchboard, and any agent you turn it on for can use it, in whichever AI app it lives. Your AI app never holds the app's sign-in.

Which connectors you can use

Go to Connectors to see them all.

GitHub, Jira, Linear and Notion are listed as Coming soon; you can't connect them yet.

What your agent can do with a connector

  • It uses the app directly. Switchboard does what your agent asks right away and gives it the answer. You aren't asked first: turning the connector on for that agent is your yes.
  • Only what the connector offers. Each connector does a fixed list of things, shown on its page under Tool list. Your agent can't ask for anything else.
  • Some things can't be undone. An email sent from Gmail or Outlook can't be unsent, and an event removed from your calendar is gone. Turn those connectors on only for agents you trust with that.
  • A retry doesn't do it twice. Your agent can send the same run_id with the same details, and the change isn't made twice. A read runs again.

Which agents can use it

Every agent has its own switch for each connector: on the agent's page under Connectors, and on the connector's page under Your agents.

  • Unless All agents is on, each switch starts off. An agent that isn't on can't use the connector, and isn't told it's there.
  • Turning an agent's switch off stops it at once.
  • All agents turns the connector on or off for the agents you have now. An agent you connect later is not changed by it.
  • On Slack, the admin who set it up can turn it on for every agent on the team account, including one made later. An agent you turned off stays off, and that off beats the team switch.
  • No admin can turn a connector on for just one of your agents, or connect your own account for you.

Your own connectors and your team's

  • Your own (Google Workspace, Outlook): each person connects their own account, for themselves. Disconnect takes only your account off.
  • Shared by your team (Slack): an admin sets it up once for the team account, then each person connects their own. When an admin disconnects it, everyone on the team loses it.

On a personal account, you're the admin.

Everything is recorded

  • Every use is in your agent's Activity and its Download Log: which connector, what it did, whether it worked, and what came back. An admin or an auditor can see it too, without changing anything.
  • What comes back is checked. Guardian screens everything an app sends back, as information, never as an instruction. If something looks like an instruction, your agent is told only that it was withheld; Activity shows it, marked as withheld.

How Switchboard keeps your apps safe

  • Stored once. What lets Switchboard reach your app stays in Switchboard's own database, never in your AI app or an agent.
  • Encrypted. It's encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key is kept outside the database, so a copy of the database alone reveals nothing.
  • Only what's needed. Switchboard asks each app for the least it needs.
