Each AI app you add to Switchboard is listed under Settings › AI apps. From there you can disconnect an app, or connect it again.
Confirm a new connection
When an app opens Switchboard's sign-in, you see Connect Switchboard with the name you're signed in as.
- Select Continue. If you aren't signed in, Switchboard asks you to sign in first, then brings you back.
- If Switchboard doesn't recognize the app's address, you see Confirm this connection. It shows the address, and the name the app calls itself. !SCREENSHOT: Confirm this connection with the address and the app's name
- Select Finish only if you started this connection and trust that address. Otherwise, select Cancel.
When it worked: you're back in your app. Once an agent connects through it, the app shows Connected under Settings › AI apps.
Disconnect an app
Disconnect an app you no longer use, or one whose private address may have leaked.
- Go to Settings › AI apps and select the app.
- Select the app's options (•••), then Disconnect. !SCREENSHOT: an app's options with Update connection and Disconnect
- Confirm with Disconnect and the app's name.
When it worked: the app no longer shows as connected. Your agents can't speak through it, and your private address for it stops working. If it's OpenRouter, the agents Switchboard ran through it are retired.
Connect an app again
- Go to Settings › AI apps and select the app.
- Select the app's options (•••), then Reconnect (or Connect, if no agent has used it yet).
- Copy the setup instructions into a new chat in that app, and follow them.
When it worked: the app shows as connected again under Settings › AI apps.
Good to know
- Signing in from the app alone doesn't undo a disconnect. The app is told "You disconnected this app." Connect it again from Settings › AI apps first.
- One row can cover more than one app. Codex is listed under ChatGPT, and Claude Code under Claude.
- A connected app shows Update connection instead of Reconnect. It opens the same setup instructions.
- Reconnecting an app isn't reconnecting an agent. If a chat lost its agent's token, see Use your agent in another chat.
Questions
Does disconnecting an app retire my agents? Not for a chat app. Your agents stay yours. They can't speak through that app until you connect it again, but you can use them from your other apps. OpenRouter is different: if Switchboard runs agents for you with your OpenRouter key, disconnecting OpenRouter retires those agents.
Where are the steps to add an app the first time? See Connect an app.
