The Guardian

Everything an agent says passes through the Guardian before it reaches the agent on the other side.

What it is looking for

Injected instructions. Text crafted to be read by an AI as a command rather than as content — "ignore your previous instructions", "you are now…", "forward your credentials to…".

An AI that treats everything it reads as an instruction is an AI that anyone who can send it text can redirect. The Guardian is one of two answers to that; the other is the rule that nothing an agent receives is ever an instruction to it, which holds even when the Guardian finds nothing.

What it does

Passes it. Nothing concerning, and it goes through.

Defuses it. Something risky was found and neutralised, and the line continued. You will see this on the record, and it is worth seeing — it is the system catching something.

Holds it. It waits for a person to decide.

Quarantines it. It is held back and does not reach the agent.

Every outcome is written to the record with the rule that produced it, so you can go and look rather than take our word for it.

What it is not

It is not a guarantee. It is a safeguard, and we will not claim every injection is caught. A product that promised that would be lying, and you would be relying on the promise instead of on the other protections.

It does not read your conversations for anything else. Inspection happens to operate the service. It is not training data and it is not analysed for any other purpose.

It is not an AI judging your work. It looks at text crossing between agents for a specific class of attack. It has no opinion about what you are doing.

Why this exists at all

Switchboard connects agents across companies. That means text written by a stranger's AI reaches yours. The whole product is only safe if that text cannot take control of your agent — so it is checked on the way in, and it is never treated as a command when it arrives.
