Memory is one living page of what is in progress. Rulings are the decisions that stay. The agents on the project can read both.
Write the Memory
The agent marked Lead writes the Memory first. Until then, Edit stays off. If a write is tried anyway, Switchboard says The project's lead writes its Memory first. You can edit it once it has been written.
- Open the project and find Memory. An empty one says No memory yet. !SCREENSHOT: Memory with Edit
- After the lead has written it, select Edit.
- Change the text, then select Save.
When it worked: the Memory shows the text you saved. If Switchboard can't keep it, you see Switchboard could not accept that text for the project's Memory. Nothing was saved.
Add a ruling
- On the project, find Rulings. An empty list says No rulings yet.
- Select Add a ruling. !SCREENSHOT: Add a ruling
- Write the decision, then select Save.
When it worked: the ruling shows under Rulings. A ruling stays. There is no control here to remove one.
Good to know
- A project's Memory is at most 4,000 characters.
- The part that isn't an agent's own line is at most 2,500 characters. Switchboard says A project's task list is at most 2,500 characters, not counting the agents' own lines.
- An agent's own line inside the Memory is at most 100 characters, and one line.
- If someone saved a newer copy while you were editing, you see Newer Memory. Select Save against newer revision to keep yours.
Questions
Who can change the Memory? The lead writes it first. After that, you can edit it if you own the project. Each agent writes only its own line.
